Presentation of the National Report of Armenia to the UN Human Rights Committee

During its session held in Geneva,Switzerland, on Monday and Tuesday, the UN Human Rights Committee discussed Armenia’s second and third reports on the implementation of the UN International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. 

The reports were delivered by the Armenian delegation’s head, Deputy FM Ashot Hovakimyan. Subsequently, the delegation responded to the questions posed by the Committee members. The reports’ examination will be followed by the adoption of the Committee’s conclusions and proposals.     

While in Geneva, Armenia’s Deputy FM also met with ICRC International Committee of the Red Cross President Peter Maurer, and UN Economic Commission for Europe’s (UNECE) new Executive Secretary, Sven Alkalaj. 

During his meeting with the ICRC President, Hovakimyan reflected on the cooperation between Armenia and the Red Cross.  

And during the meeting with the UNECE Executive Secretary, they pointed to the importance of Armenia’s collaboration with the Commission, and discussed Armenia’s implementation of the international treaties within the framework of the UN’s said organization.
